In a close game at the half, Euless Trinity scored 28 points off four straight Waco Midway turnovers to open the third quarter to cruise to a 37-7 win to open the season.

On the third play of the half and with Trinity up 9-7, Masi Maumalanga stepped in front of Nick Jimenez's third-down pass to give the ball back to Trinity. Five plays later, Brandon Theus scored from 5 yards out to make it 16-7.

The ensuing kickoff resulted in Midway's second straight turnover and Theus took it in from 33 yards out to pad the lead to 23-7.

Two more turnovers on the next two Midway possessions results in two more Trinity scores to make it 37-7.

Theus led Trinity with 193 of the team's 294 rushing yards on 22 attempts. Laki Ellis was efficient enough, going 8 of 14 for 84 yards and a passing TD to Joe Henderson.

Trinity's defense produced five takeaways on the night - three fumbles and two interceptions.
