For the Euless Trinity volleyball team, it is likely a contest it did not want to win.

After UIL realignment earlier this year, Trinity faces the longest road for a district match among area schools this season: 244 miles with an estimated driving time of 3 hours, 37 minutes to San Angelo Central. That is about four miles and three minutes longer than the trip will be for Hurst L.D. Bell, the other high school in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district.

Two other area members of District 3-6A, Haltom and Richland, also must make the journey. Haltom is the only one of the four that plays at San Angelo on a Tuesday. At least the other three will play on Friday with no school to attend the following day.

The foursome must also make a 2-hour, 30-minute bus ride to face another 3-6A opponent, Abilene.

Lengthy trips create a set of problems for coaches that they may not have faced. When to feed the players? How much extra time is required for players to get ready for the match after a long ride? Should there be a stop so the players can stretch?
