BEDFORD – Around the Arlington Lamar program, the word on senior star receiver Trevon West is he is very shy and quiet until the football is in his hands.

West, a 6-foot, 170-pound Oklahoma pledge, made 11 catches for 252 yards and three touchdowns, helping Lamar defeat Euless Trinity, 37-34, in a Class 6A Division I Region I bi-district playoff Friday night at Pennington Field.

“Trey is a freak,’’ said Lamar quarterback Jack Dawson. “There’s not much to throwing to him. He can go up and get anything.’’

West, who came into the game with 675 receiving yards, explained his explosion: “It’s playoff time.’’
